For AgWrap and Ag Cost Share:

To obtain COST SHARE assistance from the soil and water conservation district, thESE CRITERIA must be met(IF NEEDING GENERAL ASSISTANCE, PLEASE USE OUR CONTACT PAGE)

  1. Must be the current landowner or lessee with full documentation

  2. For ACSP, farm must have been in production for at least 3 years. For AGWRAP, farm must have been in production for at least 1 year.

  3. Must have records with the USDA Farm Service Agency

  4. The Farm meets the definition of a bona fide farm as described by North Carolina G.S. 153A-340(b)(2). Meaning they must meet at least one of the following requirements

    1. 1) A farm sales tax exemption certificate issued by the Department of Revenue, or

      2) A copy of the property tax listing showing that the property is eligible for participation in the present use value program pursuant to G.S. 105-277.3, or

      3) A copy of the farm owner’s or operator’s Schedule F from the owner’s or operator’s most recent federal income tax return, or

      4) A forest management plan.

  5. Contract and Best Management Practices must be created/selected to address existing water quality or water quantity concerns

Please Note: All applications are ranked and approved at the discretion of the Soil and Water board of supervisors.


For Farmland Preservation:

Please Note: The Farmland Preservation Program is entirely voluntary. Farmers may leave the program at any time during the ten-year period of the agreement.

Farmers can qualify for Farmland Preservation based on the following questions:

  1. Has your land been in agriculture or forestry use for the past five years?

  2. Is your highly erodible land managed according to NRCS standards?

  3. Are you commercially farming? If so, what products are you providing to the public?
